Overview
PPI Ventures (PPIV) assists inventors, entrepreneurs, and early-stage companies in commercializing technology.
Typically, PPIV becomes deeply involved in every aspect of the commercialization venture – performing market studies, developing strategy, participating in business development and even taking active managerial roles in the enterprise. We seek to guide the venture through at least a Series A round of financing or to a liquidity event via licensing or acquisition.
In certain cases, however, PPIV will simply provide passive early-stage capital to promising startup companies.
Criteria
Due to the depth of involvement in our typical venture, PPIV can only be involved in three to four ventures at any given time. We seek projects that we believe can return 20 times our investment in three to five years and, due to the economics of early-stage investing, this often means we must own 50% or more of a venture in which we are involved.
PPIV focuses on projects in digital media and leverages off of the domain expertise of Prototype Productions in the medical and security device arena. PPIV will venture into new industries, however, when we believe the opportunity justifies it. We pride ourselves on aggressive research and opportunistically scaling the learning curve of new industries to commercialize extraordinary technology.
