Composite Mine Clearing Sensor Platform
The project involved design through manufacturing of a ruggedized towable sensor platform for use in buried ordinance remediation. The towed subsystem had a 90% advanced composite material makeup, and incorporated a long-travel suspension system for mobility in rugged environments. The system has been deployed for de-mining operations in remote areas of the world. PPI provided turnkey product development and manufacturing services.
Challenges included design of extremely rugged composite structures that met performance requirements in terms of weight, strength, and cost.
