Vein Harvester Simulator
Our client has developed software for simulating Endoscopic Saphenous Vein Harvesting procedures. PPI designed and manufactured the hardware platform, which combines an instrumented harvesting tool with a force-feedback, 6-degree-of-freedom motion system that provides realistic haptic feel. The device includes a realistic prosthetic leg, with appropriate physical characteristics including stiffness and “feel-through” geometry.
Challenges included complex force feedback and unique requirements for anatomical features.
