PPI Aerospace part of winning team for NASA GSFC’s SMAS contract May 31, 2012
On June 1, 2012, PPI Aerospace Division is beginning work on the recently awarded Safety and Mission Assurance Services (SMAS) contract at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). PPI was a part of the winning team headed by the ARES Corporation. The SMAS contract is valued at $180 Million and extends over five years. ARES and its teammates will provide system safety, mission assurance, risk and reliability, software assurance and institutional assurance in support of current and future NASA programs, including the James Webb Space Telescope, Joint Polar Satellite Systems (JPSS) and numerous other space and earth science programs. PPI’s role is focused on Flight Hardware Mission Assurance with initial work on the JPSS and Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) missions. PPI’s employees will be on-site at GSFC’s facility in Greenbelt, MD. The new PPI SMAS employees provide PPI with extensive experience in flight hardware electrical fabrication and certified trainers in all areas of NASA workmanship standards.
