Automated Dispensing System
PPI designed and manufactured a series of automatic pipettors for use by a Biotech client with requirement for rapid growth in production capacity. These multichannel pipettors for 12, 96, and 384-well plates, combined pneumatic actuation with light weight and strong ergonomics to improve productivity. The line of tools has been in use for 10+ years, with well over 5 million units manufactured.
Challenges included design for medical clean room environment, extremely close tolerances, and complex fluid transfer mechanics.
