Rail Quality Calibration System
PPI designed and manufactured a calibration device for use with our client’s proprietary rail quality measurement system. The device simulates the motion of railroad track beneath a railroad car. Our client’s system uses lasers and accelerometers to measure ride characteristics of the railroad car, and hence determine roadbed and track quality. Railroad personnel performing field calibration deploy the devices in situ.
Challenges included ruggedness and high precision, in a railroad environment.
