Electromechanical Design
Our education and technical focus centers on cost effective, robust design of electro-mechanical and electronic products of mid- to moderate-complexity. Typical systems employ high-density electronics packaging, including SMT (Surface Mount Technology) and HDI (High Density Interconnect) PCB assemblies. We have strong track records in ruggedized optics and machine vision, motion control and force-feedback (haptics), injection molded enclosures and subcomponents, as well as traditional metal part design including sheet metal and machined chassis and enclosures. Projects range in scope from subassemblies with less than 10 parts to complex systems with greater than 1000 unique components. Manufacturability and DFA (Design-For-Assembly) techniques are central to our technical process.
Aesthetically, the look and feel of a successful product design will convey a sense of value and purpose that must be designed in from the onset. We are experienced in form creation and development, human factors engineering, and cost-effective designs in advanced plastic materials. We design and launch families of products that establish brand identity through common design cues or "Family Genes".
Our manufacturing experience, including Rapid Prototyping, urethane casting and flexible CNC machining, yields designs of very high functional and cosmetic quality. Designs flow smoothly from initial concept sketches through marketing samples, validation testing, tooling, and volume production.
