Endovascular Interface Device
This device serves as the basic platform for the client's suite of virtual reality Endovascular training systems. The system provides 8 axes of haptic feedback, including servo-operated mechanisms which capture a variety of tubular tools that are used during minimally-invasive pacemaker implantation. The high-performance hardware is modular and software-configurable; incorporating highly engineered plastic, metal, and composite materials throughout. PPI provided turnkey OEM services, from concepts through volume production.
Beyond mere Rapid Prototyping, the Endovascular product takes a step into the future of "Rapid Manufacturing." A large number of parts for this product were designed to be manufactured using the Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) process for their complete life cycle. The RP parts allowed engineers to test and refine their designs to make the best possible product in the least amount of time. Extensive and rigorous testing of all mechanical SLS components was performed to validate the design and the Direct Digital Manufacturing process. In the future, more and more products will benefit from the advantages of using SLS for manufacturing parts.
