Automated Parachute Delivery System
On this project we designed and manufactured a GPS-guided airdrop system. The hardware added guidance to an airdrop payload, operating the lanyards of a controllable parachute using servo motors and applying our clients’ avionic technologies. The enclosure was hand-laid with pre-preg Kevlar composite and cured at an elevated temperature and pressure.
Challenges included development of a structure that was extremely tolerant of abuse, while mechanically isolating delicate embedded control systems.
PPI provided turnkey product development and manufacturing services, including complex machining and composite structures manufacturing.
